Introduction to Article Naming Conventions

Articles are pages on the Scottish AI Playbook Wiki where content is found. The article name follows standard MediaWiki conventions in that the article name is the heading displayed above the article's content. This name also forms the basis for the article page name and URL.

In order to ensure that everyone can easily understand what the articles refer to, it is important to adhere to naming conventions. This will help users find the content they are looking for, both on the wiki itself and across the internet in web searches.

No two articles can have the same title, which may cause issues where we have a series of reports of the same name, or resources from different sources with the same or similar name. We therefore need to adhere to naming conventions in order to distinguish these resources from each other in there article titles.

Standard Article Naming Conventions

The standard format for naming articles on the Scottish AI Playbook Wiki is as follows:

Resource Name (Resource Owner)

So a report titled Future of Work owned by McKinsey would have an article title of Future of Work (McKinsey).

Article Naming Conventions for Resources with Date Distinction

The format for naming articles where the resource has a particular date is as follows:

Resource Name (Resource Owner) (Year Published)

Using the above example of a report titled Future of Work owned by McKinsey, if this was part of a series where multiple reports were published in different years, we would add the publication date. Let's say in our example the report was published in 2021, this would have an article title of Future of Work (McKinsey) (2021).

Moving a Page

If necessary, an article's title can be changed by a page move. Please email aialliance@thedatalab.com with the subject heading "Scottish AI Playbook Page Move Request" with the link to the page you need moved and a brief explanation of why it needs to be moved and an admin will review your request.
